Elpee's Steelworks states that it began as a sole proprietorship in 1984, initially producing burglar proofing and security doors. Its work later expanded into structural steel projects including spectator stands, clubhouses and courtyard structures for the South African Defence Force.
Today the company publishes capabilities spanning structural fabrication and erection, sheeting, industrial maintenance, custom steelwork, support frameworks, partitions and specialist steel items.

Elpee's operates a fabrication facility of more than 3,000 m² with overhead cranes and steel-processing machinery. Its published erection resources include a 22-ton Kato mobile crane, a Manitou telescopic handler and an internal truck fleet.
